“Fascinating, meticulously researched, and scandalously hilarious.”

“Surprisingly (Deliciously?) Delightful ☆☆☆☆☆
Honestly, I cannot get over how much fun this is to listen to. The hosts do such a good job of being tongue-in-cheek (pun intended) while also being respectful and non-judgemental of the titular topic. I find myself hungrily awaiting each new episode. Well done!”

“Fascinating, funny & informative ☆☆☆☆☆
You know sometimes you read a bit about a really interesting topic late at night on Wikipedia, and you know you should be going to bed, but it’s such a compelling rabbit-hole that you just can’t resist reading on? This podcast feels like that, except that instead of going it alone, two intelligent eloquent people distill the information into a fascinating story for you instead. Not to mention that it’s also beautifully referenced (the historian in me is very admiring!). Very interesting story-telling so far, and I can’t wait for more. Obviously the stories have an inevitably grim undertone, but actually I found the story of the Uruguayan plane crash very moving and uplifting! I would enjoy some more analysis of the situations, decisions, and survival tactics used by the individuals involved in each case, but maybe that could come later in a kind of phase? Obviously it’s also a fine line not wanting to ‘judge&’ or criticise survivors though, it’s a tricky balance. Loved it so far, looking forward to learning lots more.”

“Fascinating subject, great hosts! ☆☆☆☆☆
Really enjoyable – Alix & Carmella do a great job of balancing a humorous tone with a dark subject matter. They clearly have a great time recording the episodes, and they’re really fun to listen to.”

“Possibily the podcast of my dreams? ☆☆☆☆☆
I didn’t know I needed a whole podcast about survival cannibalism but I am so glad I found it! Funny and informative and given me so many interesting facts about people eating people. Please do a 2nd season.”

“Lots of interesting and grisly detail. I love history especially that of the morbid variety and am so glad I have found a podcast like this. Each episode is well paced and not too long. Looking forward to the Bill’s and Boon fanfic on the horizon.”

“Just the right amount of humorous, disturbing and informative. Great way to spook yourself out of our current miserable reality and right into a much grimmer one. But again, funny.
10/10 would invite over for dinner. But maybe not choose to be stuck in an island with.“

“A very enjoyable listen. Alix and Carmella are charming and hilarious, and they’re good at conveying what it might have been like in these awful situations without getting terribly heavy.”

“I’ve just started the podcast and I’m hooked! As another reviewer said it is the perfect combination of humour and research, and reminds me of ‘My Favourite Murder’ – another of my favourite podcasts.
If people knew what I was listening to on the train… 👀
10/10 recommend, just maybe not at my work haha

“It’s the perfect mixture of information and entertainment – thoroughly informative, but also very funny, which sounds odd to say about a podcast dedicated to cannibalism 😅”

“Satisfying my morbid curiosity ☆☆☆☆☆
Not like any history lesson I ever took in school. If you were ever drawn to the gory side of history than this is the podcast for you. Not only were the topics endlessly fascinating but I could also tell that they were well researched and approached with a good balance of sensitivity but also an enjoyably dark sense of humour.”

“I have one episode left of @castinglotspod podcast (aside from the extra things) and am so sad. I’m so happy they’re doing a second season. It’s an amazing podcast on survival cannibalism and offers some history too. I nearly died during the Franklin Expedition episode and have enjoyed all the others. Can’t wait to tuck into season 2!”
