About the show
Casting Lots: A Survival Cannibalism Podcast is a true history podcast examining real-life examples of people pushed to eat human flesh to survive.
Each week, hosts Alix and Carmella alternate to present a story of survival cannibalism from the past, with discussion focusing on the gruesome, the entertaining, and the absurd. Every episode is rigorously researched and includes academic citations, but the stories are told in an accessible and humorous style. The show will appeal to listeners of the true crime genre, history enthusiasts, and adult fans of Horrible Histories.
The first season of the show runs for 13 weekly episodes of 30-60 minutes in length, commencing on 31 October 2019. It is available to listen and download on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, Stitcher, and directly on our website.

Alix Penn (pictured right) is a museum professional, nerd and musical theatre connoisseur, who uses her background in disability activism, heritage and academic research to try and cultivate further understanding, engagement and interest in forgotten histories both at work and at play.
